The Holocaust Pt. 21 - The Phony Rudolf Hoss Confession

Rudolf Hoss was the Commandant of Auschwitz who testified at the Nuremberg Trials. Hoss claimed that he had confessed after being tortured. Many of the defendants at the Nuremberg Trials were accused of signing orders to allow the forced movement of Jews and other people. The prosecutors used the Hoss confession to show that those orders to move massive numbers of people had an homicidal intention. There is a book referenced below that points out the enormous amount of inaccuracies in the Hoss confession compared to what objectively took place. Here Jack makes the argument that there was a hastily prepared narrative for the Nuremberg Trials in 1945, there is a propaganda narrative today, 80 years later, and there is the truth about what actually happened. If Hoss' confession was forced then it would look much more like the hastily prepared 1945 narrative than the present day propaganda narrative. To this end, Hoss' confession claimed that 3 million people had been killed at Auschwitz. That sounds exactly like what the Allies at the time would tell him to say because he would have known very accurate numbers and the current propaganda narrative is that 1 million were killed au Auschwitz.
