The Katyn Forest Massacre Blame-Game

The Katyn Forest Massacre was a Soviet war crime committed in Soviet occupied Poland in 1940 wherein 22,000 members of the Polish intelligentsia were executed, of which, 4,443 were buried in a mass grave in the Katyn Forest. Germans discovered the mass grave in 1943. International groups were brought in to witness the atrocity. Though all parties knew that the Soviets had committed these crimes, Germans were tried for the Soviet crimes by the Soviets themselves at the Nuremberg Trials. In 1990 and 1991 both Gorbachev and Yeltsin admitted that the USSR had committed these crimes and published the order to do so by the head of the NKVD.
